Teaser Tuesday

Felt like enjoying a little blog fun after stopping by the Reading Rendezvous Reviewz (the only affair her husband will allow), who checks in on OEBooks from time to time.

It's Teaser Tuesday over at the Rendezvous, a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of 'Should Be Reading.' Anyone can play along. The rules are simple:
  • Grab your current read (I'm currently reading two)
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two teaser sentences from somewhere on that page
  • (Of course) Be careful not to include spoilers. (I'm naturally really good with this part...)
Too Big to Fail, by Andrew Ross Sorkin is very absorbing, especially by the way this account is put together. I'm reading something like a page a day, which these two teasers are from pages I've thus far read. (Note: I'm really not reading a page a day... only damn near!)

"But until the current crisis, few had been willing to listen to his admonitions."

"Instead, the Securities and Exchange Commission started investigating him and whether he was trying to manipulate the markets with his comments."

A Hamster is Missing in Washington, D.C. by Ed Spivey now has my eyes all swollen from laughing so hard.

-- The Les French chapter is absolutely (so far) one of the funniest. This quote captures less than a quarter of the humor... you know... the type humor you have to experience the entire piece before you can get your eyes all nice and swollen like mines.

"It's comforting to know that after three weeks of language and cultural immersion in a foreign country, our daughter can now speak English with a very good French accent."

-- The Vice President's Check-Up chapter

"That's one of the first things I tell my students. Gotta look INSIDE things. THAT'S  where the answers are."

  5. At the risk of being the second Bev commenter - fun recommendations. I have added Hamster *and* Too Big to my TBR list (for which I am both blessing and cursing you under my breath).

I am currently reading Pleasure by Eric Jerome Dickey and wouldn't dare quote ANY of it here. Keep reading and writing!

  6. Hey Bev! and yes, what a coincidence in names... like what's the chance of meeting two hard-hitting writers with the same name? And LOL if you get the Too Big book! Just send me a list of all the new profanity you come up with cursing me under your breath.

...and whaaat... Dickey has some unmentionables in his book? Now I'm curious.
