A Toast to the Writing Resolution Blog Hop Ball

I've been waiting to attend this ball all year, and now here it is…the perfect spot to slip in another Top Ten list, and call it my writing resolutions.

Before …oh boy…I get started, please know that Meg Waite-Clayton at 1stbooks is hosting the blogger ball. All the rules can be found (and followed) by clicking the icon pic in my caption, which also should be your caption as well. But before you get to clicking, here are my writing resolutions going into the New Year.

1. I'm going to try to write a serious post for every 10 or so quirky posts.

…which 2) already has commenced, as I squeeze my last active 'serious cell,' bone scraping dry working on a proposal, and tightening up a business plan that (to me) already looks too tight.

3. I'm going to SLOW down on the novel writing
to… 4) spend time on more business writing as OSAAT Entertainment celebrates a significant shift in its structure.

5. This should allow me more time for social writing, such as commenting on other blogs and social circles, without the ice packs covering my eyes.

because 6) my biggest resolution is to work with some very passionate writers, and artists.
And 7) to figure out something I can write for children.

8. But…but…if I do end up writing another novel, something like the way this last one *Lock Box* accidentally slipped out of me, I'm going to write so squeaky clean that readers will think it is a mystery, even if it is a book of my favorite recipes.

And if for whatever reason, I slip off my resolution wagon…and this would be 9) …then I will pinch myself for each gaffe the way my mother used to do when she was angry with me.

And 10) if that pinch doesn't work, then let me write right now, I hope everyone enjoys this Blog Hop ball, and that you know I have nothing but love for you all.

  3. This is lovely and inspiring! Love the idea of slowing down - and writing for children! That's one of mine as well, if I could just hurry up and have children first (ha). Best of luck meeting these resolutions and I look forward to reading more of your work!

  5. Yes, I like the slowdown...that is when one can notice the details and nuances of life that can be woven into our writing.

Please visit my blog and Writing Resolutions 2013, maybe there is a kernel of inspiration there for you?

  6. Glad to have found you through Meg and the Blog Hop Ball. From the small bit I've read here, I already trust you for book recommendations.
You mentioned writing for children. Perhaps this idea will be of interest. A friend of mine, speaks nationally on child sexual abuse prevention. She has a published book for parents. She wants to write a book for children, but she "doesn't write" – she "speaks." (I know, it's kinda the same thing but not for her.) If you are interested in exploring this with her, I'll connect you.
Believing you will be successful in 2013,

  9. Thanks for hopping by, Annabelle, and Happy New Year... I hope too many ice packs won't be required either. There's only so much room in my freezer to store them...

  10. Enjoyed reading your list. You have a lot of ideas there that appeal to me as a blogger and one who is trying to put together a platform on which to publish a recently finished memoir. I'm referring to the on-line social thing. I've started doing more and am really getting the hang of it...and the purpose. Thanks for a pretty serious post.

  11. Glad you enjoyed the post, and glad to hear from you. Online social networking hasn't been all that easy for me either, especially in as far as remembering writers with memoirs coming out. I've got to do a much better job there, so do keep us posted. Happy New Year, Nancy!
