Who Wants to Work for FREE?

Be gentle answering that question. As it turns out, a whole bunch of us like working for free. Most just don’t realize it! As a matter of fact, and this is halfway funny, but most hate working for pay. And YES! We ALL love payday, yet watching clocks, and looking forward to Fridays, or dreading the weekends going too fast and hating Mondays, (often along with customers and clients), make it clear that working for pay isn't all it's concurred to be.

To the contrary, many enjoy working without pay. I’m talking about anyone who spends any amount of time in front of mirrors trying to look their very best. We do this without giving it a second thought. Some of us might even spend our own money to fix what nature may have not gotten quite right. Let’s not even include the upkeep of our homes and family and pets… and speaking of pets, how about our pet projects. I still remember the guy who loved tinkering with cars, and helped keep many neighbors’ cars on the road, often for little more than a thank you.

Point is, this post came to mind after reading another post where the blogger was scrounging together reasons for writing 'unpaid' book reviews. I honest to goodness was so tickled thinking about the many things people do for pleasure, versus the things done for money… i.e., the antithesis of pleasure, that I was compelled to note the irony.

Reading and reviewing and writing books is not a wasted effort, and enjoyable to boot, though there is one main reason I've been at it for 13 years now!

Of course I enjoy leisure opportunities to write, however not only for me but for those who have poured their soul into a job well done. Come to find out, a sincere praise from a loyal customer or client goes a long ways.
