Second Bite at the Apple.

Cutting straight to the chase, although writing was not *initially* among my retirement imaginings, I'm going to go on and concede the gods must have seen far ahead of my dream. Writing has to be one of the best callings for anyone who has seen, heard, done, and realized many successes. There's no more hustle. If it lands, it lands. And societies, (for the love of all necessities calm, cool and herculean), won't implode from a wealth of leftover wisdom. If readers like it, they like it, and if not, gravity remains unchanged.

Albeit... and just for a placeholder, I used to envision retirement as endless Mojitos, hammocks, beaches and around the clock blase thoughts and aimless wants. That was until I met a chatty bus driver regaling passengers with highlights of his 20-plus year military career; bases where he was stationed... overseas assignments where he had been deployed... and how every major holiday it never failed that his unit was called up. He seemed really happy with life, especially when he exclaimed he "didn't ever want to retire!" Apparently driving buses and sharing his stories was his second bite at the apple.

This was about when I started looking at writing anew. What is the race? Who cares how old a book is? Think Shakespeare. His work is still popular... being read, studied and circulated...maybe worldwide? A lil' pep spiel, don't sleep on other ambitions either. Cooks and or chefs, not only know the roots of food, how it is grown and best prepared, but decades of serving holiday meals...they know how to make food look and taste good too. Teaching or tutoring, or coaching or motivational speaking can be like aged wine as well. The older, the better. And dare we mention entertaining and wardrobing the public? ...As in the Creatives; the Designers and Seamstress. the Art Sculptors, Painters, and even the Visual Performers... and none-withstanding ...the writers... (of course) alongside many, many more aspirations. True, the longer we stay in one lane, perhaps the better the product. And still, some ambitions are just as in vogue... and often best served after taking another (wink.wink) bite at life.

Just finished reading 'He Talk Like a White Boy' by Joseph C. Phillips. (Thoughts here). AND, 'Black Privilege' by Charlamagne The God. (Thoughts here).
