A Freebie…To All Seeking Content Inspiration
Of course no one has to tell a novelist, or actually anyone for that matter, when to yell. But I’ve been working on this one novel, which to date has no fewer than 9 versions, therefore and so obviously, has spurred noteworthy levels of ‘tongue-n-cheek’ yelling. So I've decided, in all infinite wisdom, to share a little inspiration by humorizing my yelling out loud episodes during the writing of this ONE novel. Geez!
* Okay, so the previous 60,000 words didn’t work, and had to start over... for the 9th f’ing time! — $h*t!
* Oh hell, and so things were moving along...and what happened? Got stuck exactly where I was the last time. — HEELLLP!!!
* Maybe I need to move on to something else. — Uncle!
* Wait… Hold up. Looked like it was going to work. — Watch This!!!
* All right. So I filed another heartache. This would be the 10th version. — That’s It!
* Hello. Three months later I thought, why not try again. — Noooooooo!!!
* Awww…found that sweet spot, loving the characters and all that. — Hidho!
* Seeing 60K AGAIN, and this time HAPPY. — SAFE!!! (You know, like how baseball umpires do it).
* Going for 70K. — Praise God!
* In short...just saying... — Feet Don’t Fail Me Now!!!
…And to anyone wondering, ‘what the jello!?!’ Below are Top Ten Excuses that lists like the one above come to be.
#1 – Welp, you were in a hurry.
#2 – You were listening to music.
#3 – You’d been wanting to write something, anything, and this was the best you could come up with.
#4 – You wanted to inspire someone, anyone to say, 'aww…I can do better than that!'
#5 – It sounded like a great idea at first, and you never gave up.
#6 – Which coincides with rationale you may hear a lot. ‘Never give up!’
#7 – The ‘crystal ball’ gave you the thumbs up.
#8 – And your conscience double dogged dared you.
#9 – Short & sweet. You pressed the publish key. And like it's widely known, once it’s out there, it’s out there.
#10 – All hypothetical laugh lines aside, I just finished reading a pleasing book I wanted to share, which I always blog alongside my thoughtful reviews. At least I always try to…
And I know. I sound old, which I am, but I really did just read a wonderfully nostalgic book; ‘A Century+ of Living: The Autobiography of Cora Jones “Boot” McLeod’ by Dr. Beverly “Eagel” Rogers. (Other thoughts here).
Watch out for OE’s next post: ‘A Microscopic Scrutiny Into The Help’ (i.e., not the movie or book, but the entity actually known as The Help.)
