10 Scariest Foibles About Books and Reading

…Alrighty. One day to the 31st, last day of the month, giving…or leaving me 24 hours to write my monthly blog post… and so now here I go. Just for the note, this post was completed from conception, to draft, to edit and caption in mere hours. Fingers crossed.

It took a moment to think up this top ten list because generally the challenges associated with reading books is kind of like my fuel…or kryptonite. That expressed, few things are scarier than not being able to find the next page-turner. I crave ‘em, and sometimes push my radar into overdrive looking for ‘em.

Which disappoints me when my radar burns out…

And I end up spending money on books where I get no immediate ROI…

…because these unread books often sit on my DNF shelf… FOR YEARS!

I also get…oh, I don’t know… touchy? Sensitive? Concerned when out in public and asked, “what am I reading.” It’s odd, because shouldn’t a reading advocate be ‘mouth almighty about what they’re reading?’
And this one is funny, but really scary too. I totally seize up when asked to borrow one of my books.

…Especially if it is one of my keepers. You’d think someone asked to hold my journal, which should never be loaned.

Sometimes I get a little chicken reading certain books too. It could be an intimidating face on the cover… of someone I don’t know…or do know. It also could be the downright hope the book is good but fearing the opposite.

Big books, like hundreds of pages, over 400 to be precise, almost always rattle me.

Now of course, teeth chattering, I lose all my cool points when I get to thinking the reason it is such a struggle finding these page-turners, is because I’ve done read them all. Newly released memoirs can’t be published fast enough in this case!

Just finished reading ‘Daddy, Stop Talking!’ By Adam Carolla… which incidentally was published 2015. That should give someone a little chuckle. (Other thoughts on this memoir here).
