A Good Time to Share Good Vibes

Getting right on with it, a few days ago a discussion, or more like presentation was taking place on C-Span2 that had me nodding in agreement. The presenter, a five-star general (I believe), was giving a fabulous talk on AI as it related to the military in general, but humanity overall. I sat up and smiled. While today I don’t exactly remember the presentation verbatim, or at least not enough to paraphrase here, what I distinctly recall was how this talk made me feel. Like a weight had been lifted.

This feeling took me back to, oh I don’t know, a month or so ago, watching the ‘Baking Championship: Next Gen'. Now, I usually watch all of the ‘kids baking’ competitions. I like the innocent honesty, and I like children, coupled with competition shows. But this particular series was at a whole 'nother level. I couldn’t get over the awesome job whoever handled the auditions had done. Every one of the contestants that made the cut I loved. All 12 teams! Those kids were so adorable, full of personality, and of course not holding back on what they thought. Gosh I was there for every episode. But the kicker was that ending! Ha Ha! That was the best ending EVER, even if I wished all of the contestants had won. And I know. It ruins the concept of winning if everyone wins. And still, the point I’m crawling towards is the hope I have for the Next Gen!

I point those two, rather innocuous episodes out, because this inspiration seemed to have a motor, charging me up to not only reevaluating a call I almost slept on, but I just finished writing a book, reading a book and writing this post. Yes, finally I just finished reading James Baldwin’s ‘The Fire Next Time’. Now I can be a part of a dialogue on a book that probably has occurred and concluded a century ago! (Other thought on the book here).
